As a contribution to the territorial planning for the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte were structured and implemented models of spatial analysis in order to identify and rank various localities in the region, under the economic point of view. From a spatial database was generated the potential interaction of these locations using the amount of trading activities, services and industry in each location and its distance to the others, mensured by highway drawn. From the result of the interaction between locations were generated maps of areas of influence by the Voronói polygon method. The methods used in this research intend to contribute to the knowledge about the current economic dynamics of the region. Besides, it was also possible to verify the impacts that the contruction of the new roads proposals would cause in territorial dynamics. The procedures were performed using geoprocessing resources, proving the importance of such methods to the urban planning and management. The information gain that models of spatial analysis provide us, in this type of research, is extremely valuable to support the territorial planning, once these features allow us to build future scenarios, predictives, from the spatial data. These results justify the proposals of the road restructuring in the region and contribute significantly to the identification of economic centers, and also indicate the area of influence of each location in the territory.
